Vitolen Becomes the First Laboratory in Latin America to Fully Implement Satisloh’s E-Ticket System

When Fernando Acosta, Industrial Engineer and Operations Manager at Vitolen, began evaluating production workflows, his goal was clear: increase throughput, reduce Work-In-Process (WIP), and accelerate the company’s digital transformation. Vitolen has been a technology-driven leader in the Argentine market for 61 years, producing 1,200 to 1,500 lenses a day through its central lab and 30 commercial offices. To support its vision for Industry 4.0, Vitolen turned to Satisloh’s E-Ticket System.

Having maintained a strong partnership with Satisloh for nearly 28 years, the Vitolen team was confident the E-Ticket System could help them reengineer their lens production process. Unlike labs that implement E-Ticket in only one area, Vitolen chose a full-lab rollout. This made them the first laboratory in Latin America to integrate the system across surfacing, coating, and finishing.

A Comprehensive, Collaborative Implementation

Vitolen deployed the E-Ticket System across every major production stage, including free-form surfacing, tinting, spin coating, deep coating, AR coating, and edging. Demonstrating the full flexibility of the platform. Throughout the rollout, Satisloh and Vitolen worked closely to anticipate and resolve challenges.

“The project was collaborative from the start,” shares Sebastian Carulli, maintenance manager at Vitolen, . “We were initially concerned about software integration and roaming capabilities. However, during the installation those concerns were completely resolved. This was thanks to comprehensive software configuration and a site survey that ensured optimal access point placement, ”

E-Ticket’s intuitive design enabled rapid adoption. With Vitolen’s team already focused on continuous improvement, training required just one day on the job. “The simplicity of the system made onboarding straightforward across all areas,” Fernando adds.

The E-Ticket System delivered immediate improvements in order tracking, shop floor control, and workflow efficiency. “The production and logistics teams highlighted how simple it was to follow orders in progress and prioritize urgent work,” Fernando notes.

Given the lab’s daily production volume, the shift eliminates thousands of printed tickets, lowering Vitolen’s carbon footprint while reducing ongoing costs for paper, ink, and printer maintenance.

The E-Ticket System now forms a core part of Vitolen’s digital transformation strategy. “Implementing the E-Ticket System is an important step toward our Industry 4.0 vision,” Fernando explains.

He attributes Satisloh's support to the success of the launch. “The technical planning and follow-up meetings, technical visits, and willingness of the Satisloh team were key to the successful implementation and start-up without stopping our production.”
