|
 | | | 170 optical industry experts, from around the world, came together under the motto "Modern Optical Manufacturing" for the first autumnal meeting in the Wetzlar town hall.
The meeting, which was sponsored by Satisloh and organized by Optence eV (www.optence.de), the Competence Network for Optical Technologies in Hessen and Rhineland-Palatinate, offered an impressive overview of all aspects of modern optical manufacturing.
The topics ranged from scarcity of raw materials "noble earths" to coating technology, metrology and optimization of processing and manufacturing to optical systems and innovations which can influence the future of optical manufacturing.
On 26th of September 2011 Satisloh and other Optence members invited the customers to visit their companies. Steffan Gold, director of precision optics, welcomed 30 guests for a company presentation and a factory tour. Thus, no question remained unanswered. "In the construction area, you can look into the machines and later on you can see see a machine in operation, which uses a new aspheric polishing process," said Gold, raising visitors’ interests.
The participants of this optical meeting in Wetzlar were pleased with the offerings and the opportunity to exchange experiences.
"I was pleased with the meeting. The presentations were excellent and had practical orientation, thus I got a lot of information ... Most interesting for me were the speeches about manufacturing aspheres. I also enjoyed the guided factory tour at Satisloh. “Seeing our SPM-60 that we just got back from a technical overhaul at Satisloh and see the positive results for positional accuracy was a highlight for me,” said Dr. S. Stankovic, head of optical manufacturing Leica Camera AG, Solms, Germany.
